Delhi School: On Thursday, 9 students from Delhi Government School hospitalised due to a dead rat found in the midday meal. This took place in the morning on 16th February 2017. Out of all the students from the school, 4 of them are under the age of 14 years. After finding the dead rat in the meal, all the students rushed immediately to the hospital in Malviya Nagar. After keeping them under observation for the whole night, the doctors then said that the condition of the students is quite better and all of them are free from danger. The students are currently in Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya hospital in Delhi.

Soon after discovering the dead rat in the midday meal, the supply of the food stopped by the school management. Already, some of the students have consumed the food. The students who consumed the food reported that they felt acute pain and nauseous in their stomach. In order to save them, the students who consumed the food rushed to the hospital.
The official said that they asked the remaining students to throw out the food that the management served them. The Deputy Commissioner of Police from South East, Romil Baaniya said that the authorities from the school gave a complaint to the Police regarding the consumption of midday meal and due to that the children fell sick.
After this incident, Manish Sisodia, the Education Minister of Delhi said that a FIR lodged against the seller who previously banned from providing the food. The Minister went to the hospital and checked the condition of the students along with Saumya Gupta, the Directorate of Education (DoE) Director. Also, the Delhi Government sent a show cause notice to the person who sold the food namely Chetna Jagriti & Shaikshanik Vikas.
All the powers of Kitchen in the Government school will now remain under the control of the Government. The officers from the Police department will watch over at the time of cooking food. The senior leader of Bharatiya Janata Party, Ramesh Bidhuri and Congress leader Kiran Walia also went to the students at the hospital.
